CERTIFICATE in FILM STUDIES
The School of Literature, Communication and Culture's Undergraduate Certificate in Film Studies allows for a concentrated focus on the art of film, concentrating in its four-course (twelve-hour) requirement on film's technical, historical, and theoretical dimensions. It should appeal both to students interested in extending their technical education to an area where technology and art clearly converge and to those seeking to add to their understanding of the mediated environment we inhabit.
Requirements
After completing the 1101-1102 sequence, those pursuing the certificate fulfill the four-course requirement by taking two required courses, LCC 2500 Introduction to Film and LCC 3254 Film History, and two additional courses selected from among LCC 3252, 3256, 3352, 3853, and 4500.
With the approval of the Director of Undergradutae Studies, the student may repeat LCC 3853, the rotating Special Topics in Film, when the topics are different, or substitute another film-related course. During his or her last semester, the student submits a petition for certificate (completed advisement sheet) to the Director of Undergraduate Studies; when it is approved, the certificate is awarded to the student during the final week of the semester.
